New skills list released 1 July 2012

New skills list released 1 July 2012 which provides one combined list to use for 457 work visas, skilled visas (GSM and State Sponsored), 457 temporary business visas and 442 Occupational Trainee Sponsored visas.

The Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL), together with the Schedule 1 Skilled Occupation List (SOL) is used to determine eligible occupations for non-sponsored or nominated skilled migration purposed for:

  • Subclass 189 visa;
  • Subclass 485 visa;
  • Subclass 487 visa, if the applicant is not nominated by a State or Territory government agency;
  • Subclass 489 visas, if the applicant is not nominated by a State or Territory government agency;
  • Subclass 885 visa; and/or
  • Subclass 886 visa, if the applicant is not nominated by a State or Territory government agency.

Schedule 2 to this Instrument, the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL), is a single list of occupations for employer sponsored and State / Territory nominated skilled visa Subclasses.

The CSOL can be accessed at: http://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/F2012L01451.

There have been a raft of changes come through in July 2012 and the most significant changes concern:

  1. People who want a skilled visa, must first register their interest with DIAC (aka “Expression Of Interest” or “EOI”) and wait for an invitation to apply for the visa – this new system will speed up skilled visa processing, but it also makes it crucial that your EOI is designed and maintained to ensure you get invited ASAP. Please go to the skilled visa page on our website (www.themigrationplace.com.au) for more information.
  2. People who want a work visa can register a EOI to find an Australian business will sponsor them.
  3. The age limits have been relaxed for persons on work visas who want PR.

If you have any queries about same, please contact us at The Migration Place.
