  • How Much is an Australian Visa Fee?

Determining the Australian migration cost isn’t incredibly simple because it depends on many situations and factors, and the fees are often changing.  The biggest factor is which visa is being applied for because most of them have a fixed fee.  However, it’s important to note that there can be exceptions that lower or eliminate the price.  The Migration Place has helped an enormous amount of people get visas to Australia, and we know how to calculate the most likely Australian visa fee in your particular situation to help you plan a budget.

    Australian Migration Cost

When planning how much you will pay to migrate to Australia, it’s important to remember that it is much more than just the Australian migration fee that is paid to the government.  Aside from unrelated costs like travel expenses, you may also have to pay costs associated with the application.  For example, you may have to pay a government office in your home country to get official copies of documents that you need to submit, and sometimes it’s necessary to pay extra to speed up the process and meet time requirements.

Immigration Lawyers Lower Australian Visa Cost

Many people know that there is a high Australian visa cost, and they’re hesitant to hire a lawyer in what is an already expensive situation.  However, the assistance of an immigration lawyer can significantly lower the overall Australian migration cost.  One way is that an immigration lawyer can help you find the exceptions that you may not have known about which will eliminate certain parts of the Australian visa fee.  Another reason is that a lawyer can help you avoid mistakes you might make.  For example, if you apply for the incorrect visa, you may have to apply again and pay additional fees.  Also, an immigration expert can help you plan an overall strategy to make sure you don’t have other expenses along the way.  For example, you could start working earlier which will result in getting paid sooner, and temporary living situations that are more expensive won’t last as long.

    Credit Card Charges

Paying for an Australian migration fee with a credit card or debit card is possible, but there will be an additional surcharge attached to it.

Here are some of the standard charges:

    • The additional charge for Visa and MasterCard is 1.08%
    • The additional charge for American Express and JCB is 1.99%
    • The additional charge for Diners Club International is 2.91%

    Australian Visa Fee Payment Location

Some visas in Australia have to be applied for from inside or outside of Australia, but others have the option for both places.  However, it’s important to note that the Australian visa fee may be different depending on where you apply.  This is worth looking into, because it could change your application strategy, and every little bit can add up to a large sum of money.  Additionally, some applications have an additional fee if you don’t apply online.

    Visitor Visa Costs

There are a ton of different options for visitor visas, so it’s very difficult to estimate an average cost.  Tourist and business visas are generally between AUD$100 and AUD$400, but there are also certain situations where the fee is nothing.  Also, representatives of foreign governments can get the application fee waived.  Most Australian working holiday visas are AUD$420, and retirement visas are usually in the mid AUD$300 range.  Medical treatment visas are free outside of Australia, but carry a fee of AUD$280 if applying locally.

    Student Visa Costs

If the only goal is to study, a normal student visa usually costs AUD$535.  On the other hand, training and research visas are usually cheaper, and they only cost about AUD$360.  However, the sponsorship fees for training and research can be much more expensive.  Finally, the base fee for a graduate visa is AUD$1440, but there are additional payments that often must be added on to this.

    Work Visa Costs

Work visas are another topic where there is a wide range of fees, so it’s difficult to come up with average numbers of the various costs involved.  Depending on which type of visa is applied for, they can range from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand.  Additionally, they can have multiple payments required, because it’s sometimes necessary for both the sponsor and the applicant to pay fees.
