The New Migration Program Planning Levels Are Here! - Migration Place

Each year, the Federal Government allocates places for people wanting to migrate permanently to Australia.

The Migration Program Planning Levels fluctuate each year according to economic and political considerations, as well as the priorities of the party in power.

Numbers have been released for the 2019-2020 program year, capped at a total of 160,000 across all streams.

As per usual, the majority of places are in the Skill Stream, with a total of 108,682 places over the following categories:
Employer Sponsored 30,000
Skilled Independent 18,652
Regional Skilled Employer Sponsor (New) 9,000
Skilled Work Regional (New) 14,000
State/Territory Nominated 24,968
Business Innovation & Investment Program 6,862
Global Talent 5,000
Distinguished Talent 200

In the Family Stream, there are a total of 47,732 places spread across three categories:
Partner 39,799
Parent 7,371
Other Family 562

In addition to this, there are 236 places allocated to ‘special eligibility’ and 3,350 places allocated to children.

Migration rules are changing constantly, and the process is becoming harder each year.

This year’s figures see 2,417 less places allocated than the 2017-18 program year, so we emphasize the need to engage a registered and experienced migration lawyer quickly, before the process becomes even tighter.

If you have any questions regarding the above, or require any other immigration assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at mail@themigrationplace.com or by phone on +61 7 3229 4025.
