Upcoming Changes to the Subclass 457 Visa - Migration Place

The DIAC has announced changes to the Subclass 457 visa to be implemented 24 November 2012 – but do not be alarmed!
From 24 November 2012, the ‘Temporary Business (Long Stay) – Standard Business Sponsorship (Subclass 457) visa’ will change its name to ‘Temporary Work (Skilled) (Subclass 457) visa’.
The changes to the Subclass 457 visa will be minimal, and employers will still be able to sponsor approved skilled workers to work in Australia on a temporary basis for up to four years.
Employers may nominate a number of positions for different occupations in exactly the same way.
These visas are designed to allow Australian businesses to employ foreign workers, and the Subclass 457 visa can be easily converted to a permanent residency visa upon certain conditions being satisfied.
